Qubeview Desktop is a swing
application that allows users to build presentations and
custom calculations using the OLAP catalog. This tool allows
individuals to use the BI Bean technology to slice and dice
data and provide formatted reports.
Typically this is used for
sales analysis. The MDI interface was chosen to empower users
who have to make product or time series comparisons. The BI
Beans catalog then allows them to publish reports for
consumption by all corners of the enterprise.
Although removed from the
JDeveloper environment for the production of reports, the door
is left ajar for custom development with the inclusion of a Plug-In
library that allows developers to provide customised
objects for project specific requirements.
For example, a developer could
produce a plug in to schedule updates or allow modelling of
Analytic Workspace data. The Plug-In technology exposes
information such as the meta-data manager and BI session
information and allows end-users to access this new
functionality from the menu system and/or toolbar. More
information on Plug-Ins and the SDK are available from My
Qubeview
Finally an MDI interface and a
new look and feel give the application a crisp UI that allows
users to compare multiple reports alongside one another.
